I’ve worked a lot of jobs in my time. I’ve been a teacher, a barista, a grocery clerk, a sheep herder, a museum tour guide, a conservationist, a writer, and a photographer. In all of those jobs, I’ve realized one thing:
Everyone has a story.
Despite all the odd jobs, I have always been a storyteller. A collector of the stories of all the people and places around me. As a young man, I had big aspirations to draft the next great American novel. I wrote creative nonfiction essays, short story fiction, and even wrote articles for my local newsletter.
What I found was that instead of these grand ideas of writing epic literature, I preferred the smaller stories. The personal narratives. The historical accounts. The fish tales. I found them compelling and heartfelt, and all too human. When I discovered that photography could also be used as a form of visual storytelling, I was hooked.
This adventure began as a creative outlet for my hobby as a photographer. Combining my skills as a writer has allowed Mountain Dog Storytelling to grow and morph into the rich and fulfilling experience of a lifetime. By focusing on wellness and local conservation, I can spread awareness about the amazing stories of people and animals, whether it be around the world or in your own backyard.
Inspired by my own Mountain Dog, and with the support of a friends, family, and a great storytelling community, I am here today to tell the stories that really matter.
Thanks for visiting Mountain Dog Storytelling,
