Hey There!

I’m Jacob Towne

I am a writer and photographer based in the Sacramento Valley of Northern California.

My work focuses on visual and written storytelling to highlight compelling local stories of on-the-ground conservation.

From water to wildlife,

every story matters.

What I Do

As a conservation visual storyteller, I specialize in highlighting stories of local conservation efforts across the beautiful Sacramento Valley of Northern California.

Currently, I am focusing on my personal photography journey, learning new skills and trying different techniques. In doing so, I’m hoping to highlight the connection between positive mental health and the natural world.

By focusing on wellness and local conservation, I can spread awareness about the amazing stories of people, the places they live, and the animals they share it with. From across the world or across the street, there’s stories everywhere waiting to be told.

With the support of friends, family, and a great storytelling community, I am here today to tell the stories that really matter.

Why Work With Me

With a background in communications, conservation, and education, I am a uniquely qualified storyteller.

I constantly work to find new ways to explore ideas and share the stories of the people working in conservation, whether it be in their own backyard or statewide projects.

Formerly, I lived in the Columbia River Basin of Washington, and while there I partnered with various government agencies and nonprofit organizations to report on the local projects being worked on across the state.

Some of these amazing conservation projects include the preservation of the pygmy rabbit and the northern leopard frog. Likewise, I have also shared stories on soil and water quality conservation in agriculture, focusing on the Moses Lake Watershed and the Odessa Groundwater Aquifer.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story can make all the difference.
